They can be modified, controlled and saved independently of the main image. Annotations allow you to annotate documents without altering the document itself. You can create new annotations, open an existing annotations for editing, or permanently publish annotations to TIFF files.<\/p>\n<p>The Annotation support included is a complete set of easy to use tools that enables users to add annotations to a document (highlight, line, box, ellipse, image, text, ruler, polyline (open polygon), free hand painting, an angle measurement, memo &#8211; a multi-line text, text object with the date and\/or time, stamp, signature).<\/p>\n<p>The annotation objects can be edited in many ways including moving, resizing, rotating, modifying font, deleting, moving to back or front, modifying pen and brush, changing color attributes and much more. They can be saved in the image permanently or saved as a separate file. Annotations can be added to both color and black &amp; white images.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>ANNOTATION MODE<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_266\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-266\" class=\"size-full wp-image-266 \" title=\"TIFF annotations\" alt=\"TIFF annotations\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.graphicregion.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/tiff_annotations_11.jpg?resize=240%2C42\" width=\"240\" height=\"42\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-266\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">TIFF annotations<\/p><\/div>\n<p>To invoke the Annotations toolbar, click the <strong>Annotations Tool<\/strong> button.<br \/>\nAnnotate mode can also be triggered through the Mode | Annotation menu, or by using hotkey (Settings | Users settings | Hotkey tab).<br \/>\nNote 1: Annotation tools remain active until another tool is selected.<br \/>\nNote 2: You can set Annotation mode as your default mode at file opening (Settings | Users settings | View tab | Startup mode = Annotation).<\/p>\n<p>You can press &lt;<strong>Esc<\/strong>&gt; to abort the current entity creation before it is set. The &#8220;Select Annotation&#8221; tool can also be activated from the <strong>Annotation<\/strong> menu.<br \/>\nOnce the tool is active, click on a annotation entity to select it or press and hold &lt;<strong>Ctrl<\/strong>&gt; while clicking to select multiple entities.<br \/>\nNote that while multiple entities can be selected on the same page, multiple entities cannot be selected across multiple pages.<br \/>\nTo select adjacent entities, click and hold the left mouse button and drag a box around all the entities you wish to select.<br \/>\nEdit the entity.<\/p>\n<h3>Highlight<\/h3>\n<h3><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-248 alignnone\" title=\"Highlight\" alt=\"Highlight\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.graphicregion.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/highlight_annotation.jpg?resize=58%2C53\" width=\"58\" height=\"53\" \/><\/h3>\n<p>Creates highlight entities by having the user draw a rectangle anywhere on the current file.<br \/>\nColor options can be selected as with any other annotation entity (<strong>Brush<\/strong> color).<br \/>\nThe entity created with the highlight tool is essentially the same as creating rectangle entity with a highlight fill, but there is no option to select or edit the fill type for highlight.<\/p>\n<h3>Straight line and line arrow<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_249\" style=\"width: 62px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-249\" class=\"size-full wp-image-249 \" title=\"Line\" alt=\"Line\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.graphicregion.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/line_annotation.jpg?resize=52%2C53\" width=\"52\" height=\"53\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-249\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Line<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The <strong>Line<\/strong> tool allows you to draw straight lines in any direction. You can add begin and end arrowhead style to a straight line entity (<strong>Begin Shape<\/strong> and <strong>End Shape<\/strong> parameter).<br \/>\nPress and hold the left mouse button where you want the Line to begin, drag and release the mouse where you want the line to end.<br \/>\nEdit the annotation as desired.<br \/>\nThe <strong>Line<\/strong> tool provides options for color (<strong>Pen color<\/strong>), line style (<strong>Pen style<\/strong>) and line thickness (<strong>Pen width<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<h3>Polyline<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_250\" style=\"width: 65px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-250\" class=\"size-full wp-image-250 \" title=\"Polyline\" alt=\"Polyline\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.graphicregion.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/polyline_annotation.jpg?resize=55%2C53\" width=\"55\" height=\"53\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-250\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Polyline<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The <strong>Polyline<\/strong> tool allows you to draw a jointed line.<\/p>\n<p>Click the left mouse button where you want the line to begin.<br \/>\nMove the mouse pointer to where you want the polyline&#8217;s first vertex to be and click the left mouse button to set the point. Continue to do this until all points are set.<br \/>\nDouble click where you want the polyline to end to set the line.<br \/>\nEdit the polyline as desired.<\/p>\n<p>As with any of the measurement and annotation tools, you can press &lt;<strong>Esc<\/strong>&gt; to abort the current entity creation before it is set. Escape will reset the tool and delete any unfinished portions created while clicking or dragging.<\/p>\n<h3>Box (Rectangle)<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_251\" style=\"width: 64px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-251\" class=\"size-full wp-image-251  \" title=\"Rectangle\" alt=\"Rectangle\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.graphicregion.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/box_rectangle_annotation.jpg?resize=54%2C53\" width=\"54\" height=\"53\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-251\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Box<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Program allows you to draw solid (filled) or hollow (unfilled) <strong>Rectangle<\/strong>. Hollow annotations render just the outline.<br \/>\nSelect <strong>Box<\/strong> from the <strong>Annotation<\/strong> toolbar and select your desired options from the annotation properties toolbar.<br \/>\nOptions include color and fill type (hollow, solid). For outline you can use Pen Color &#8211; Stile &#8211; Width properties, for filling &#8211; Brush Color &#8211; Style properties.<br \/>\nPress the left mouse button on a starting point and drag the mouse pointer to draw the shape.<br \/>\nRelease the mouse button to set the entity.<\/p>\n<h3>Text<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_252\" style=\"width: 65px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-252\" class=\"size-full wp-image-252\" title=\"Text\" alt=\"text_annotation\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.graphicregion.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/text_annotation.jpg?resize=55%2C54\" width=\"55\" height=\"54\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-252\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Text<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Click <strong>Text<\/strong> on the <strong>Annotations<\/strong> toolbar to place text directly on the image.<br \/>\nClick the mouse pointer where you want the text to start and drag a rectangle to dictate the width of the text column and the height to be used.<br \/>\nNote: Single-clicking the text tool causes a new text entity to be created using the last established font properties.<br \/>\nBy default, the new text has no enforced column width until you hit the return key or manually adjust the column width handles.<br \/>\nBut you can use<strong> Text auto-size<\/strong> check box from <strong>Annotation | Object<\/strong> menu.<\/p>\n<p>From the <strong>Annotation Properties<\/strong> bar, select the desired font properties, then type the desired text.<br \/>\nEdit the text as desired. You can change the font, style, size, color, and background of the text box.<br \/>\nYou can drag the text box to another location, you can adjust the size of the text box by length or height, and you can select and adjust the size of the text.<br \/>\nTo rotate the text, use the <strong>Angle<\/strong> parameter in the <strong>Font<\/strong> area.<br \/>\nTo adjust the text box length and height, click and drag one of the handles on the corners. The size of the text does not change.<\/p>\n<p>To edit the text, double-click the mouse on a text entity to select (highlight) the characters you want to edit and type. The highlighted characters will be replaced with the newly typed characters.<br \/>\nWhen you type (or paste) new characters into a text entity&#8217;s body of text, they appear at the current cursor position.\u00a0 If there are any text characters currently selected, they are erased.<br \/>\nWhen you hit the DELETE key, the character to the right of the cursor is deleted, unless some text is selected. In that case, the selected text is deleted and the character to the right of the<br \/>\ncursor is unaffected.<br \/>\nWhen you hit the BACKSPACE key, the character to the left of the cursor is deleted, unless some text is selected. In that case, the selected text is deleted and the character to the left of the cursor is unaffected.<br \/>\nYou can copy selected text to the clipboard, via &lt;Ctrl&gt; + &lt;C&gt; and paste via &lt;Ctrl&gt; + &lt;V&gt;.<\/p>\n<h3>Memo<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_253\" style=\"width: 64px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-253\" class=\"size-full wp-image-253\" title=\"Memo\" alt=\"memo_annotation\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.graphicregion.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/memo_annotation.jpg?resize=54%2C54\" width=\"54\" height=\"54\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-253\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Memo<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Click <strong>Memo<\/strong> on the Annotations toolbar to place multi-line text directly on the image.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Memo<\/strong> entity has all features of <strong>Text<\/strong> entity (but allows to type multi-line text).<\/p>\n<p>By default, Memo annotation has parameter\u00a0 <strong>Memo Font Lock<\/strong> (from the <strong>Annotation | Object<\/strong> menu). This parameter locks the alignment, color and font, allowing all characters to have the same visual characteristics. If the &#8220;Memo Font Lock&#8221; property is disabled (False) the user can modify font and alignment using the control keys:<br \/>\nCTRL &#8211; L\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Left align<br \/>\nCTRL &#8211; E\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Center align<br \/>\nCTRL &#8211; R\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Right align<br \/>\nCTRL &#8211; J\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Justified<br \/>\nCTRL &#8211; F\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Open font dialog<br \/>\nCTRL &#8211; B\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Bold<br \/>\nCTRL &#8211; I\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Italic<br \/>\nCTRL &#8211; U\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Underline<br \/>\nCTRL &#8211; G\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Set background color (open dialog)<\/p>\n<h3>Image<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_254\" style=\"width: 64px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-254\" class=\"size-full wp-image-254\" title=\"Image\" alt=\"image_annotation\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.graphicregion.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/image_annotation.jpg?resize=54%2C54\" width=\"54\" height=\"54\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-254\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Image<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Use this tool to insert external raster images (JPG, BMP, PNG, TIFF, GIF, EMF etc.) into your current markup layer.<\/p>\n<p>Once selected, images can be resized and positioned where you want them.<br \/>\nClick the <strong>Image<\/strong> button and browse to an existing image that you would like to insert.<br \/>\nClick <strong>Open<\/strong> in the <strong>Open dialog<\/strong>. You can set the image by one of the following methods:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Left-click and hold in the window to set the first corner point of the image, drag the mouse to where you want to set the second point, and release.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Left-click on a point in the document where you want to center the image. The image is inserted into the document matching your orientation and is calculated to its natural size, relative to the document or drawing size.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The new image entity can be moved and resized just like any other annotation entity.<\/p>\n<h3>Date\/Time stamp<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_255\" style=\"width: 65px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-255\" class=\"size-full wp-image-255\" title=\"Date\/Time stamp\" alt=\"date_time_stamp\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.graphicregion.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/date_time_stamp.jpg?resize=55%2C54\" width=\"55\" height=\"54\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-255\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Date\/Time stamp<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Date\/Time<\/strong> stamp is <strong>Text\/Memo<\/strong> annotation with current date or (and) time.<\/p>\n<p>Click the mouse pointer where you want the Date\/Time stamp to start and drag a rectangle to dictate the width of the text column and the height to be used.<br \/>\nNote: Single-clicking the text tool causes a new Date\/Time stamp to be created using the last established font properties.<\/p>\n<p>You can drag the\u00a0Date\/Time stamp to another location, you can adjust the size of the\u00a0Date\/Time stamp by length or height, and you can select and adjust the size of the text.<\/p>\n<h3>Stamp<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_256\" style=\"width: 63px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-256\" class=\"size-full wp-image-256\" title=\"Stamp\" alt=\"stamp_annotation\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.graphicregion.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/stamp_annotation.jpg?resize=53%2C54\" width=\"53\" height=\"54\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-256\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Stamp<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Program allows to insert <strong>Text<\/strong> and <strong>Image<\/strong> (signature) stamps into a image.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stamp<\/strong> Templates that have been authored and saved, can be accessed through the <strong>Stamp<\/strong> button on the <strong>Annotation<\/strong> toolbar.<br \/>\nWhen clicked, a list of available stamp templates is shown that can be added to the annotations layer.<br \/>\nColor, content, and other elements are defined by the author when a stamp template is created and saved.<\/p>\n<p>When a stamp is inserted, if a dynamic text field (such as &lt;user-name&gt;, &lt;time&gt;, &lt;date&gt;, etc.) exists,<br \/>\nthe field is resolved and results are populated in the stamp. You can insert multiple stamp into a annotations layer.<\/p>\n<h3>To create Stamp:<\/h3>\n<p>On the <strong>Annotation<\/strong> menu, click <strong>Object &#8211; Stamp &#8211; Modify<\/strong>.<br \/>\nChoose necessary stamp type: <strong>Text<\/strong> or <strong>Image<\/strong> tab.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Text stamp.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Click the <strong>New<\/strong> button and select your desired options (string, font, size, color, position, angle).<br \/>\nYou can add a dynamic text field (Insert button).<br \/>\nOK<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Image stamp (and signature).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Click the <strong>New<\/strong> button and select your desired options (image name, path, position, angle).<br \/>\nWhite transparent is helpful parameter for inserting signatures with white background.<br \/>\nOK<\/p>\n<h3>To add Stamp:<\/h3>\n<p>Click <strong>Stamp<\/strong> on the <strong>Annotation<\/strong> toolbar.<br \/>\nSelect an available stamp in the drop down box.<br \/>\nTo place the stamp at its default size , left click on the view window. The location you click is the center point of the stamp.<br \/>\nTo insert the stamp at a customized size, left-click an area of the current window and, while holding down the mouse button, drag a box to position and size the stamp entity. Release the mouse button to set the entity.<br \/>\nYou can use the resize or rotate handles to change the shape and position of the stamp.<br \/>\nStamps can be created on any page of a multi-page document and can be copied and pasted to any page.<br \/>\nAdd any additional annotations (including stamps) you desire. The stamp entities are saved with the annotation layer just as any other entity.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Electronic Signature<\/strong> (Image Stamp) feature is designed to allow the placement of user-specific markup stamps on documents and drawings.<br \/>\nUsers can scan their actual signatures, crop the images, and save the files as JPG, BMP, PNG, TIFF, GIF, EMF etc.. Click on the annotation entity you wish to edit. You can select more than one annotation entity by pressing &lt;<strong>Ctrl<\/strong>&gt; while clicking on the desired annotation, or by drawing a bounding box around a group of entities that you wish to select. Holding down the &lt;<strong>Ctrl<\/strong>&gt; Key is not necessary when drawing a bounding box for selection, but the entities you want included must be entirely contained within the selection box boundaries. Any entities that are hanging over the box&#8217;s edges will not be included.<\/p>\n<p>Edit the annotation entities as desired.
